In the heart of Ripon and next to Ripon Cathedral, this is an ideal base for visiting the Yorkshire Dales, Fountains Abbey, Ripon Racecourse and Lightwater Valley.
The hotel prides itself on the luxury of its bedrooms and the contemporary atmosphere of its restaurant and bar, where you can relax with cocktails before a meal. The restaurant menu is designed around local produce and the hotel breakfast will take you through the day.
All rooms include internet access, digital TV and fresh home-made biscuits, and have views over Ripon Cathedral or the garden. The contemporary theme is particularly noticeable in the bathrooms, with modern power showers and Molton Brown toiletries.

Much time has been taken to continue the theme of 'history with a contemporary twist', and this is particularly evident in room 2, with its grand Victorian bath coupled with original pine shutters, off-set against a unique custom-built four-poster bed. Rooms have a view over the cathedral or garden.
Refurbished last summer, the hotel offers a stylish new restaurant on the ground floor. Award-winning chefs offer an eclectic range of delights from speciality fish dishes to locally inspired creations. An extensive collection of cellar wines is also available to complement your meal.
Dinner is not available on a Sunday evening. Breakfast is served on a Saturday and Sunday morning from 08:30 to 09:30.
By Car
From the A1:
- Take the B6265 (W) into the city.
- Pass the racecourse on your left, continue over the first roundabout, then take a right at the second roundabout.
- This will take you past the Cathedral on your right, and The Old Deanery is on the left.
From Thirsk:
- Continue along the A61.
- As you enter Ripon, go over 2 roundabouts then take a right at the third onto the B6265.
- Turn right at the next roundabout, past the cathedral on your right, and The Old Deanery is on your left.
From Pateley Bridge:
- Take the B6265 (E) into the city by turning right at the first roundabout and continuing straight on at the traffic lights.
- At the next roundabout, turn left.
- The Cathedral is on your right and The Old Deanery is on your left.
From Harrogate:
- Continue along the Harrogate Road (A61), towards the city centre.
- Go over the bridge and turn right at the set of traffic lights, along Water Skellgate.
- Take a left at the roundabout. The cathedral is on your right, and The Old Deanery is on the left.
